Active Ingredient: Febuxostat​

Dose/Form: 40mg Film-Coated Tablet​

Indication: Urinorm is indicated for the chronic management of hyperuricemia in patients with gout, including those with a history or presence of tophus and/or gouty arthritis. It is not recommended for the treatment of asymptomatic hyperuricemia. ​

Dosage and Administration:

• Starting Dose: 40 mg once daily.​
• Dose Adjustment: If serum uric acid levels remain above 6 mg/dL after 2 weeks, the dose may be increased to 80 mg once daily.​
• Administration: Can be taken with or without food.​

Important Safety Information:

• Cardiovascular Risk: Patients with established cardiovascular disease treated with febuxostat have a higher rate of cardiovascular death compared to those treated with allopurinol. Consider the risks and benefits when prescribing Urinorm, especially in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease. ​
• Gout Flares: Gout flares may occur after initiating treatment due to changes in serum uric acid levels. If a gout flare occurs during treatment, Urinorm need not be discontinued. Prophylactic therapy (e.g., non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or colchicine) upon initiation of treatment may be beneficial for up to six months. ​
